I had the distinct honor of being one of James's direct reports for nearly two years, and during that time, I witnessed firsthand his exceptional leadership qualities. I worked for and with James for about 10 years. He is kind and thoughtful and truly cares about everyone's success. James demonstrates servant leadership...he doesn't lead from the front and pull you along, he leads from behind and gently pushes you along and supports you to be the leader you were meant to be. For ten years, I had the pleasure of working with James in Diversity and Inclusion at Nordstrom. During this time, I witnessed James create high performance teams that made successful contributions that supported the business strategies and elevated the company brand.

As a leader, James is bold and isn’t afraid to push the boundaries in an effort to make the company better, the employees better and the customer experience better.

As a coach and mentor, James is constantly enabling the full potential in others. He is sincerely interested in the growth and success of every member of his team. He not only offers encouragement and enthusiasm but also challenges his employees and others in the organization to get outside of their comfort zone, to stretch themselves and develop their capabilities. He builds an environment of trust not just in his open, honest communication but in his actions.

As an individual, James is a very uplifting and charismatic person that exudes confidence with humility. It was an amazing privilege to have been on his team and anyone would be fortunate to work alongside him.

It was such a pleasure to be able to support James when he was the Store Manager at the Nordstrom Rack at Sawgrass Mills in South Florida. What helped James be such a strong and successful Leader was his curiosity and his desire to always learn and grow.

James is an intelligent, thoughtful leader who had an analytical approach to the business and generated positive outcomes. He always lead by example and he never asked his team to do something he was not willing to do himself.

James has a great ability to stay calm in the face of adversity and that steadiness always left the team knowing that James had their back and they could get through any situation that might arise.

James was a dedicated and effective member of the Nordstrom Credit Marketing Team. He was highly goal oriented and was recognized with the divisions' most prestigious "President's Award". James established strong relationships with his assigned store regions and helped them optimize results through his enthusiasm, influence, and training skills.

James Thomas was an excellant Store Manager. He possessed the power to challenge and bring out the best in his Team. He took control of his leadership role by becoming knowledgeable in all aspects of the business from the store finances, to his customer service presence on the sales floor and awareness of merchandising standards. James also developed strong relationships and supported as well as encouraged his management team .

James was great Support Team partner in resolution and prevention of loss prevention issues. In a high volume fast paced enviroment, James always remained professional and treated each issue with urgency and imporance.

During James's time in the Human Resource division he has provided HR manager's with his professional insight and guidance. He has a tremdendous presence when facilitating trainings to new and exsiting managers. James is approachable to managers and employees alike. With a track record of proven excellence he's now been given the opportunity to lead an entire store in the Nordstrom Rack Division.

James excels at being a leader who builds trust at all levels while achieving established goals. He is truly committed to overcoming any obstacles and challenges which may come his way. I admire his strong interpersonal and influencing skills, as well as the ease in which he is able to build both internal and external relationships.
